The World Social Forum 2005

The 5th World Social Forum (WSF) was held in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Over 150 thousands people from 135 countries participated in the forum, and discussed strategies of resistance to the model for globalization formulated at the annual World Economic Forum at Davos by large multinational corporations, national governments, IMF, the World Bank and the WTO.

    On 17th November 2004 the International Labor Organization (ILO) approved the recommendations regarding violation of trade union rights by Japanese government (Case 2304). ILO recognizes that actions by the police and judicial authorities are undue and violation of trade union rights, and requests the government to secure trade union rights
