Petition with 693,446 Signatures Submitted to the Court

On February 6th, the Support Association for the JRU7 submitted a petition with 693,446 signatures to the Tokyo District Court. The Association has been making best efforts to gather signatures since last September, seeking just and fair trial over the JR Urawa case.
When 20 of cardboard boxes containing papers of signatures were piled up in front of the building of the Court, letters came up on the boxes ,which read,g We want our colleagues, JRU7, to be reinstated as train drivers! We require just and fair trial.h
Lawyer Shojiro Goto claimed to a court officer that gI sincerely hope not to make light of the petition with vast amount of 690 thousand signatures. We have been trying hard to gather signatures in diverse places, under the situation where all the judges have changed and principles of oral proceedings and face-to-face deliberation were not secured in the court. The court officer who received the petition promised to surely convey the message to the presiding judge.
On February 21, the prosecutors will give a closing argument in the 56th session of the trial.
We, JRU, would like to express our gratitude for cooperation and solidarity to every comrade around the world, and ask for your continued support.
