Bus Workers met for ITF International Action Week

On 7 September 2006, leaders from three bus workers’ organizations from Japan Confederation of Railway Workers’ Unions (JRU) had a meeting to decide on the activities of the ITF International Road Transport Workers’ Action Week, 9-15 October 2006. A representative for the 41 ITF Congress reported briefly about the Congress stressing transport workers in the world faced same problems, such as deregulation, long hour working time under the poor working conditions, threatening health and safety and union attacks. Participants discussed about their current situation and problems in their work places and concluded that they needed solidarity and fought together not only workers in Japan but also in the world for building union power. Finally, they decided that on 12 October in the Action Week they would be leafleting in the main stations and bus & track terminals in Japan appealing “Stop Competition but Build Solidarity”.
