This is to declare loudly that JRUfs candidate Kaoru Tashiro won the Upper House election conducted on 11 July. He got 113,468 votes, which was the 14th largest number among candidates who ran under the Democratic (DPJ) banner.
Since
autumn last year, we have waged a campaign. As you know, for more than 8
months, our movement has been hampered by the company controlled JRTU and
the wicked media that have repeated aggravated harassment. Despite the
obstacle by those who intended to prevent him from getting a seat as a
member of the ruling party, we prevailed and showed JRUfs righteousness and
organizing power across Japan. On the other hand, on 7 July, just before the
polling date, Japanfs Supreme Court dismissed a final appeal against the
lower court ruling on Gamagoori Station Case. However, we werenft defeated.
JRU won the biggest challenge in our 23-year history. The victory was achieved as the result of understanding, cooperation and support by many people in every corner of this country. We are proud of it, and would like to share a joy of triumph with every member of JRU and all who have supported our campaign and joined it so far.
Mr. Tashiro will soon start his political activities. He is expected to play an active role as a lawmaker on behalf of JRU. He will work out his activities in a positive, energetic but humble manner as a backbencher, and will achieve his campaign promise, gActualize Japanfs Security Verification!h by shaping concrete measures. The way will not be an easy one. His policy is also ours. We call on every member to form a more solid scrum with each other in order to ensure the realization of his pledge.
His
campaign slogan is gRailway is a Human Wayh that includes our various
desires. That means we at a railway labor union want a society that respects
peace, democracy and traffic policies that is safe, environment-friendly and
kind to the socially vulnerable. Letfs move forward and make our power
larger, stronger and more solid. In order to ensure acquittal and
reinstatement of JRU7, letfs stand together and keep on fighting!
