6th ITF International Railway Workers' Action Day

JRU members appealed for "Safety First for Railway"

JRU members distributed more than 40.000 leaflets at over 120 railway stations in the commuter time in the morning and evening on March 7 2005. In the leaflets we appeal for "Safety First", "No deregulation" and "Workers' Solidarity". JR-Tokai Union and JR-West Union, affiliated to JRU, made an appeal to the public against deterioration of wage system and working conditions. Some of our affiliate unions made their own banners and their own leaflets. Passers-by called out to us, "Thank you on such a cold morning." We also appealed to taxi drivers and dock laborers working near the stations to fight together against deregulation. Now in Japan we are in the midst of annual spring labor offensive. Today's Action Day will lead to the success of our struggle. Fight for workers' solidarity!
